The peninsula of Ras Mohammed is located at the southern extremity of Sinai, about 20 km from
Sharm El-Sheikh (8 miles by sea) its an uncontaminated place of extraordinary beauty and great naturalistic interest, and it was declared a national park in 1983.
The zone of the park is a protected area and is therefore subject to a number of legal norms which guarantee its protection . There are a number of different routes to follow inside the park, each marked with different colours going along these, visitors can discover the beauties of the place .There are a number of underwater
sites, some of them reachable on land, for those who want to explore the fascinating sea-beds .
In the second half of august, tens of thousands of storks ( Ciconia ciconia ) and other migratory birds stop off at Ras Mohammed during their long, annual journey from northern Europe to southern Africa .
Those lucky enough to be there in this period can admire the huge flocks of storks whilst they rest on the park lagoons-a
sight of rare beauty . The park is open from dawn to dusk and the entry ticket costs $5 per person ;there is an extra $5 charge for cars .
You can camp in the designated areas subjects to authorization obtainable at the ticket-office or one of the park office .There is a cafeteria at the visitors center, although it is not always open . To enter Ras Mohammed its necessary to show your passport at the Egyptian check-point on the way out of Sharm el-Sheikh .
